Lindholm Høje near Aalborg is Northern Europe's largest burial ground from the Late Iron Age and Viking Age, and it is one of Denmark's most beautiful historical monuments from this period.

The grave site on Lindholm Høje It was in use from around 400 AD. to approximately the year 1000, and the many stone settings on the mound mark almost 700 cremation graves.

Inside the Viking Museum Lindholm Høje you can experience the life of the Vikings in the area. The exhibition is based on the antiquities found, and here you can experience how cattle were kept on Lindholm Høje, cultivated fields, built and decorated houses, and how people lived in everyday life. Among other things, you can experience how to cook, weave fabric and shop, in addition to all the other daily chores - you can, for example, visit a Viking house or sail a Viking ship.

Death has also been a part of life for the residents of Lindholm, and the exhibition tells about the special customs and traditions that were resorted to when one of the locals died.

The second part of the exhibition at the museum tells about the antiquity in the Limfjord country. It is built up in themes that together paint a picture of the ancient man's actions, needs and desires in the eastern part of the Limfjord country.

Here you get closer to the people of the past through the senses. There are both traditional showcases with authentic objects and large visual drawings by the illustrator Erik Sørensen, who have recreated moments from Bejsebakken in Aalborg and Sebbersund, among others, while at the Iron Age village and in the bog there are large screens with changing images showing the seasons and different light impressions. .

The museum also has a well-stocked museum shop, which among other things sells copies of original Viking jewelery found on Lindholm Høje as well as woolen goods, books and mead.
