Experience Nature by Night

Farmer Bjørn Kjeldgaard, who lives in Lille Østergaard located between Jerslev and Brønderslev, has the rare Onion Frog to breed and live on his property. The onion frog has a very characteristic croak, and now it is possible to experience this.

Project Løgfrø was created on the basis of a wish from Bjørn Kjeldgaard to preserve the protected Løgfrø. The project is based on the fact that you can experience the frog up close at night, therefore it will be possible to move out into the wild. Trail systems, shelters, a mud toilet and a fire pit have been built on the farm. In addition, an emptying raft will be built with binoculars and listening equipment, so that you can hear and see the Onion Frog, also called the Potato Troll, under the surface of the water. 

Bjørn Kjeldgaard has lived on the farm since 1988 with his family, and has cultivated the land organically since 1994. They grow vegetables and raise cattle, goats, chickens and Christmas poultry. They have a small farm shop from which they sell their goods. 

The idea of ​​organic farming arose, among other things, to protect nature and wildlife and a desire to have a more varied nature around the farm. During the conversion period to ecology, and in the form of the nature-friendly measures that have been taken with planting and the construction of two lakes, more wildlife came to Lille Østergaard, including the protected Løgfrø.
